The plenary meeting of DECUB took place last week on Liège and Verviers (Belgium).
On the first day (2nd July) the leaders of different Work Packages made an update of the situation:
-
WP1: Project management and coordination.
-
WP2: Urban Living Labs: stakeholder engagement, community participation, and characterization of tangible and intangible values.
-
WP3: Characterization of urban archetypes, material flow analysis and environmental performance calculation.
-
WP4: Data infrastructure and digital twin.
-
WP5: Policy evaluation and implementation.
-
WP6: Dissemination and Knowledge Hub(s).
So far, all the tasks seem to be carried out on time and the deliverables due on month 9 (end August) are on the process of being finished and sent to revision:
-
D2.1 – Report with three roadmaps for each ULL containing a glossary of key definitions and concepts.
-
D4.1 – DECUB data model definition and implementation in a database.
On the second day (3rd July), we visited the local Urban Living Lab site of the project in Ville de Verviers. We made a tour around the city to get knowledge of the context of the two urban blocks in the city centre which have suffered from the 2021 flooding of the river Vesdre, and show vacancy. There are ongoing works on the riverbanks to improve the availability of public space and improve the city’s resilience to future climate events.

To conclude, we agreed on the date of the next plenary meeting to take place on Heerlen (https://en.heerlen.nl/) on 23rd -24th February 2026.
